What's included. Every personalized item includes engraving of your text, your own vector artwork, or a design from us — at no extra charge.
Artwork that needs converting. If you send a logo or image that isn't already engraving-ready, we convert it:
Not needed — $0. Text only, a vector file, or one of our designs.
Tier 1 — $5. A simple, high-resolution image.
Tier 2 — $15. Complex artwork or fine detail.
Tier 3 — quoted. Complex artwork supplied at poor quality. This one needs review before you buy, so we can tell you what's achievable and what it costs.
"High resolution" means any vector file, or a raster image at least 1000 pixels on its long edge.
Sending us your artwork. Two ways, whichever suits you. Before you order — send it through our artwork submission form and we'll grade it within 1 business day, so you know the cost before you commit. After you order — send it through the same form with your order number and we'll key it to your order; if it needs a higher conversion tier than you selected, we'll invoice the difference before anything goes into production.
The form accepts vector artwork (AI, EPS, PDF) and high-resolution JPG or PNG. If yours is an SVG, zip it before uploading — that's a limit of the upload field, not of what we can engrave.
You approve before we engrave. Every personalized order gets a proof. Nothing is cut until you've approved it, and the turnaround clock starts from your approval.
Fonts. Montserrat, Bebas Neue, Playfair Display, Sacramento, Great Vibes, Amatic SC. You can also name your own, or let us choose to suit the piece.
Character limits vary by product and are shown on the engraving field for each item.
The engraving shown in our product photos is a sample design, to show placement and finish — your item is engraved with your text or artwork.

Hand wash only, with warm water and mild soap. Never soak or submerge a wood piece, and never put it in the dishwasher — both will warp, split or raise the grain. Dry immediately, then stand the board on edge so both faces dry evenly; drying flat traps moisture underneath and can cup the wood.
Re-oil cutting boards and butcher blocks about once a month, or any time the surface looks pale and dry, using a food-safe cutting board oil. A wood wax on top of the oil adds water resistance and lasts longer between applications. Keep wood out of prolonged direct sun and away from heat sources, which dry it out and cause cracking.
Decorative pieces that never see food — plaques, urns, easels, boxes — need only a dry, soft cloth.
Hand wash and dry immediately after use. Never leave a blade wet, never let it soak, and never put it in the dishwasher — detergent and prolonged moisture will pit the steel.
Apply a light coat of mineral oil to the blade every few months, and more often in humid conditions or after contact with salt water. Store the blade in its sheath in a dry place, and make sure both are fully dry first — a damp sheath holds moisture against the steel and is the most common cause of rust on an otherwise well-kept knife.
Sharpen with a whetstone or a quality pull-through sharpener as the edge dulls. Avoid powered grinders, which build enough heat to draw the temper and permanently soften the edge.
Turnaround. Personalized items ship 7–10 business days after you approve your proof. Artwork sent for review before purchase is graded within 1 business day.

Personalized items. Once you've approved your proof, personalized pieces are made to order and can't be resold, so they're final sale. This is exactly why we proof every order first — check the spelling, the font and the placement carefully before you approve, and tell us if anything is off. We'd far rather fix it at the proof stage.
Blank items. Anything bought without engraving can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery, in its original condition.
If something arrives damaged or isn't what you ordered, that's on us — get in touch and we'll put it right.

Is the engraving on the blade, the handle, or both? Your choice — Placement is a modifier on every knife and axe, with Blade, Handle, or Both as options.
What's the blade made of? Stainless steel, on every Bison River knife and axe in this line except one: the 9.5" Fixed Blade Wood Knife, which carries a genuine Damascus steel blade.
Does it come with a sheath? Only where the name says so. Our 4" and 7" Fillet Knives include a leatherette sheath, the 4" Multi-Tool includes a nylon sheath, and the 4" Folding Pocket Knife comes with a leather sheath. Everything else in the line — our EDC pocket knives, the Button Lock Knife, the Camo EDC Knife, the Rescue Knife, both Fixed Blade Wood Knives, and the 3.5" Folding Pocket Knife — ships without one. We sell Bison River belt sheaths and folding-knife sheaths separately if you need one.
Are there any restrictions on carrying a knife or axe like this? Knife and blade-length laws vary by state and city. Check your local regulations before carrying, especially for our longer fixed-blade and folding models.
