Action and size are the two choices. Ball-bearing pivots on the 4" and 4.25" models open fast and smoothly one-handed, which is what most people mean by an EDC knife; the button lock on the 4.5" is the easiest to close safely. Handle material changes the feel more than the function — wood and bone read as a gift, black aluminium and camo read as a tool.
